What ages is MaiMai designed for?
MaiMai is built for children ages 3 through 18. The AI automatically adapts the vocabulary, sentence length, and concept complexity to match your child's age group, so children ages 5 and 15 can both explore the same country at a level that's right for them. Age groups include Preschool (3 to 5), Early Elementary (6 to 8), Upper Elementary (9 to 12), and Teen or High School (13 to 18).
Is MaiMai good for homeschoolers?
MaiMai offers free activities for exploring world geography, cultural studies, social studies, and languages at home. Printable worksheets and cultural guides are available to explore alongside the adventures. The separate ESA offering is being prepared; existing non-ESA learning remains free.
How many languages does MaiMai teach?
MaiMai covers 19+ languages including Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, French, Arabic, Swahili, Hindi, Portuguese, German, Korean, Italian, Greek, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, and more. Explore the language learning section for available lessons, phrases, and greetings. Existing non-ESA learning is free for families.
What privacy and safety features does MaiMai offer?
MaiMai shows no advertisements and does not sell user data. Parents can use the parent dashboard to see their child's activity. Read our Privacy Policy for details about how children's information is handled.
Is MaiMai really 100% free?
Yes. All 28 countries, all 19+ languages, the AI tutor, parent dashboard, and all printables are free for families. There is no paid consumer tier. Separate premium ESA homeschool bundles are planned, not yet available; checkout and reimbursement documents are unavailable.
Can more than one child use the same account?
Yes. Every family account supports up to 5 child profiles, each with their own progress, badges, language lessons, and adventure history. Free for all families. Planned ESA Family and ESA Curriculum bundles would support up to 4 and 6 children respectively; these bundles and their premium features are not yet available.
How is MaiMai different from Duolingo or other language apps?
MaiMai is a cultural education platform, not just a language app. While Duolingo focuses on language drilling, MaiMai teaches cultural context, traditions, history, food, music, art, and etiquette alongside language phrases, so children understand not just how to say something, but why it matters. The AI adapts the entire experience to your child's age, reading level, and learning history. It's designed for ages 3 to 18, while most language apps target adults.
Do I need to install anything?
No installation needed. MaiMai is fully web-based and works in any modern browser on desktop, tablet, or mobile. Printable resources can be downloaded as PDFs and printed at home. There is no app required, though the platform is mobile-optimized for phone and tablet use.
